Therapy

I provide online consultations via Facetime, Whatsapp, Zoom, Skype or telephone. While I am based in Putney, I support people nationally and internationally.

I offer a safe, confidential, non-judgemental and compassionate setting in which to explore a range of personal concerns and feelings. These may include unresolved childhood experiences, such as child sexual abuse, relational trauma, disrupted attachments such as  being raised in care or difficult boarding school experiences, or living with domestic abuse. We then examine how these shape later adult relationships and impact on mental and physical wellbeing making it hard to make life style changes. In addition, these experiences can cause emotional dysregulation, dissociation, sleep disturbances and chronic shame that can impair connection to self and others.

Over many years I have come to recognise and value the human need for compassion, kindness, empathy and how these are essential to allow for connection to self and others. Many individuals who feel lost, uncertain, or struggle to find meaning in life often also feel disconnected from themselves and others. As they lose contact with themselves, their needs, beliefs and values, they begin to lose trust their ability to form meaningful relationships and attain their personal goals.

In my experience many individuals are able to restore connection and begin to form a renewed trust in themself and others through a safe and compassionate therapeutic relationship, allowing them to make informed decisions and life choices and begin to live life in a way that is more satisfying and meaningful.

The need for connection is supported by the desire for communication, this is a central feature of all my work, whether this is through lecturing, training, working with clients or writing. My philosophy is that effective communication is critical to establishing, building and maintaining connection. It is through communication that individuals can develop a deeper understanding of self and others and the dynamics of relationships.

Whatever difficulties you may face, I can provide a sensitive, warm and compassionate supportive environment in which to explore past experiences and how these have shaped you and still exert an impact in your life. I believe that it is through a secure therapeutic relationship that an individual can gain insight and a deeper understanding of their feelings and concerns.

My approach is integrative which is based on the fundamental principles of trauma informed practice which includes offering safety, choices, working in a collaborative, equal and non-hierarchical framework which promotes inclusivity, trustworthiness, empowerment and autonomy. In offering a secure and safe environment you can explore how childhood experiences have shaped you, how these affected you, what you had to do survive or adapt in the presence of threat, and what meaning you made of your experiences. Through exploring what happened to you will be able to restore reality and begin to reconnect to your authentic self, feelings, beliefs and values. Through the therapeutic relationship and relational depth, you can begin to reengage with life in a more deep and meaningful way, move forward and reach you full potential.

I offer assessments to ensure the right kind approach to suit the unique needs of each individual as well as short term crisis intervention, depending on what you hope to achieve and enable you to make informed decisions and choices that are right for them and that will enable you to live a more satisfying and enriched life.
